Kuntress Hut HaMeshulash Register here… join the class now Individual Lessons on MP3 Now Available here... The following are the opening words of the Kuntres Hut HaMeshulash (Pamphlet of the Threefold Cord), found in Sefer Ohd Yosef Hai, Shana Rishona (between VaYeshev and Miqetz), written by Rabbi Yosef Hayim, the Ben Ish Hai of Baghdad. “The writer says, prior to my writing the Laws of the first year of Parshat Miqetz, I have seen it proper to bring here in this book three responsas from my small book Sod Yesharim. These responsas are related to the matter of prayer and [Divine] service that we are dealing with their laws here in this book. I have called this pamphlet the Threefold Cord (Hut HaMeshulash). Now, the first question and answer I have already published in my small book Sod Yesharim, which itself is published at the back of my [other] small book Rav P’alim (Vol. 2, page 127, Amud Gimel). This is its gist. QUESTION. Our teacher; we know that you are familiar with this matter which is presently confusing us. We find written in the Etz Hayim, (Gate of the Kings, Chapter 7) that all our [Divine] service and the fulfillment of the commandments are in the [Sefirotic Faces] of ZOON (Z.A. & NOK). And we also find in the book Olat Tamid that our teacher Rabbi Hayim Vital (o.b.m.) has written that all our [Divine] service is to the AYN SOF, blessed be He. We have now come before your holiness to tell us our path. How should the kavanot (meditation) in our prayers and in the fulfillment of the commandments be? We do not know what the objective of our meditations should be.” The answer to this and the following similar questions will take on a journey through the teachings of the Zohar, the writings of the Ari’zal and the Rashash. We will learn about and hopefully gaze upon distant worlds and see strange new realities that can only be seen in the eyes of spirit. In each lesson we will begin where we leave off and leave off where time requires us to do so. I intend to explain the material that we will cover and not just read and translate it. This course is an adventure and an important one. It is for every sincere Jewish individual who prays and wants to improve on the meditational/experiential element within one’s prayers. Each class will be video recorded and available online only to registered students. Once registered you will receive an email that contains a link to the lessons. You can also choose to listen to each lesson individually in down-loadable MP3 format. |
