The Torah Obligation to
Meditatively Bond With G-d
A Detailed Explanation in

"Devekut (bonding) with G-d is one of the 613 commandments.
One must be bonded with G-d continually...
There is no greater attribute than this, for all things are included in it.
The difficulty in achieving it (devekut) is in direct proportion to its level of
importance...
One who readies himself below, is made ready by above,
until such a time when one will receive a spirit from above that will purify and
sanctify him.
One is obligated, in accordance to ones ability,
to make all efforts to properly observe this commandment, at all times."
Peleh Yo'etz,
Dalet
The words of the Ba'al Shem Tov:
“I asked the Mashiah, when will He will come?
He answered me, by this shall you know.
At the time when … the masses are able to recite yihudim
(meditative unifications) and ascend above, as you do,
then shall the klipot (the powers of evil) be nullified.
Then shall it be a good time for salvation.”
Sefer Baal Shem Tov (Igeret HaKodesh, Gimel)
"True
devekut with awe and love
is even greater than the study of Torah and comes before it."
Shulkhan Arukh HaRav, Vol.
